About the Role

In this vital leadership position, you’ll act as a critical link between the Board of Trustees and the senior management team, providing strategic oversight for financial affairs and ensuring the long-term financial viability of the organisation. Collaborating closely with the Director of Finance.

Key responsibilities:

• Strengthen Financial Oversight: Ensure effective accounting procedures and controls, periodically review financial policies, and guide the preparation of budgets, management accounts, and financial statements.
• Drive Governance Excellence: Lead the preparation of agendas and reports for the Finance and Audit Committee, oversee the organisation's risk register, and liaise with auditors to ensure compliance.
• Enhance Board Financial Literacy: Keep the Board informed about their financial duties, recommend training to boost financial awareness, and support their development in strategic decision-making.
• Safeguard Resources: Ensure organisational assets and equipment are well-maintained and adequately insured.
• Shape Financial Strategy: Guide the Board in approving budgets, monitoring reserves, and developing investment policies to support the organisation’s mission.

You’ll also present the annual accounts at the Annual General Meeting, ensuring transparency and alignment with best practices.

You’ll have a proven ability to provide expert guidance, work collaboratively with senior teams, and communicate complex financial matters with clarity and confidence.
